rci 2995 quit working

rci 2995 quit working

I have a rci 2995 board#ept695011a that was working fine then all of a sudden it quit.The only thing that works now is the lights on the meters every thing else has quit no frequency counter no transmit or receive hoping Rick or someone else may be able to help. Thanks in advance for any replies.

sounds like you lost a power supply . were you running a fan kit from rci? If not that is probably the problem . This is the number one issue with the piggy back large radios . got to keep them cool

The radio had a fan kit but it was removed was wondering what i need to check? All voltage on regulators check good.

they were notorious for power supplies...

Check the voltages around Q50 and Q51, and let us know what you find.

Also try disconnecting the Red feed cable to the power amp and see if the radio now power up.

Thanks for the quick replies. Rick i was hoping you would help cause i know if anyone could help find the problem it would be you i will check the voltages at q50 and q51 and let you know what they are. I will also unhook power to power amp and see what happens. Thanks for the help.

one of the locals...had a 2990....they had same problem...unhooked the linear inside..and it works perfect

Thanks for every ones help decided to take this radio to a radio tech. my hands aren't steady enough to work on surface mount radios. Thanks
