Removing weather channels from cobra cb radios
I have a cobra 29ltd wx classic and a 25 wx classic.. Does anyone know how to disable the weather in these 2 radios... and is it true if u disable the weather u can get more power?
i removed the weather board from a like cobra 29 wx ltd. desoldered the wires from the main pcb and antenna. (havent removed anything from the cb/wx switch on front) installed an echo board and the control into the removed weather band selector hole.
I plan on rewiring the cb/wx switch for talkback later. didnt notice any power gain by simply removing the weather. the main pcb is basically the same board as the regular 29 classic. the wx board goes direct to the antenna only borrowing power and the receive amp from the pcb. I am sure there are more technical specs, but thats the gist. removing one is not a major undertaking. was more trouble installing the echo.
