Can any one tell me how to open up my receive on a connex 3300hp-zx
I don't think it receives as good as it could. I am running a Grant xl with some mods and would like to run thie connex but it can't touch my Grant for performance, any info would help thanks parttime

I have found lots of mods for both these, but as for limiters. leave them in place. nothing is more annoying than hearing a loud unintelligible radio. both these rigs are great for power, and if you have the bux to spare, i would recommend sending both to sparkys cb shop. He did a top notch job on my connex 3300 hp rebel. I would recommend him any day. Nothing but compliments on my radio, get solid conversations mobile for at least 10 miles (at least)...

Yes leave the limiter in it is a 2sc945. this will only damage your mosfets. they have more than enough gain. one mod you can do is change r178 to a 1k resistor and set your deadkey to 10 watts but no more. set VR13 for 10 watts high power and set Vr14 about 1/2 to 3/4 of the way. Dont tun up more than that if you are using a meter only 25 watts swing is about all you want. if you turn it up more than that you are just overdriving the mosfets and starting to square the output some. this tricks into hight average power and all this will do is fry your radio. most of them that i have done i get anywhere from 50 to almost 70 watts pep on my BIRD 43p. or 25-30 watts on a dosy meter. I do them here at my shop all the time. And like the other guy said nothing but compliments. As for the receiver I just run through an allignment because when you convert them to 11 meter they are a little off. I can usually get around .25uv with 10db sinad. wich is as good as an motorolla fm radio. Not bad for a 180 dollar radio. I can do one this mod pretty reasonable. Email me if you need any more info. mike@mynovasecurity.com
