Superstar 158EDX low audio and power on SSB.

The trouble is low audio no SSB I can only get about 4 watts but AM/FM is ok 10 watts and nice and loud.

I have tried adjusting the ALC but make no difference and there is a bit of a carrier on SSB about 1/8 watt.
Can anyone help?
I would Rick to fix it but he is very busy.

Try replacing the balance modulator, this is an all too common problem with the new type BM chip. Do not try to replace it with the old type BM (AN612) as it will not work without changing components.

You was right it was balance modulator.
