Good day people.

I recently purchased a RM200P amp. When connected to my Washington I get a DK of about 50 watts. When I start talking the watt meter swings backward peaking at 25 watts. Anyone have an idea as to what causes this to happen? The SWR on the system is exceptionally low with the amp off and jumps slightly when the amp is powered on.
I did have the radio tweaked to 2 watts at first to power the amp but the output was hovering around 20 watts so I tweaked it back to 4 from the radio.
Anyone have a detailed instruction for a swing mod for this radio?
Thanks

hello, this amp is designed for a very low dead key.you need to lower you dead key to about 1 1/2 watts dead key.you should be able to do this by adjusting vr-6 this is your am power adjustment.as far as the swing kit modification.youll need a 1n914 or an 1n4148 diode and a 10 mfd 16 volt disc capacitor.looking at the solder side of the pc board.locate your voltage regulator.youll find this to the left of the audio chip, with the radio facing you and the antenna connector to the left, then pan right there will be a screw, then just to the right of the screw is the regulator, counting the legs leg 1 next to the screw leg 2 is in the center leg 3 to the right of center and to the left of audio chip.install the swing diode with the anode(unbanded end) of diode to leg 3.then the cathode of the diode(banded end) goes to isolated pad approxmately one inch in front of leg 3.this pad will be the small baseball bat shaped pad just below the small snake shaped isolated pad....then your 10 mfd 16 volt capacitor will go from the second pin of the audio chip, counting from your left to right.the + leg of your disc capacitor goes to leg 2 of audio chip.the - leg of the capacitor goes to the small banana shaped isolated pad, just beneath the bat shaped pad where you put cathode end of the diode (banded end)..cut r-102 resistor.this will open up your amc.also adjust vr-7 fully clockwise, this is your alc adustment for your ssb.remove tr-32.change out r94 and r99 resistors to a 2.2k.then retune l-36 and l-37 for maximum peak power.hope this helps and is not too confusing, best i can do without a drawn diagram available......ramblingman
