Galaxy DX88HL No receive on AM.

Can someone help i have a Galaxy DX88HL with no receive when on AM but the signal meter shows it is receiving but no audio it works just fine on FM and SSB

hi there,if it was me id be looking in the area of c-32,it is a 47 uf 25 volt dc capacitor,it will be located near your agc/squelch ic,which is ic-1.change out this capacitor and see if your receive returns...........good luck with your radio.........ramblingman

Hi ramblingman change c32 and most of the caps which go to ic-1 but the fault is still there I would normally get this sort of fault fixed by Rick of euro radio co but he tell me he has so much work on he can not do it for at least 6 weeks. So can anyone else help?

hello again,whats is you voltage measurements on ic-1 your agc/squelch chip

Check the white wire at Plug J103 Pin 4 for 8 volts when in AM mode if ok go to TR23 (2SC945) and check the collector is grounded in AM if not replace TR23 but if it is grounded replace D23 and or D24. This is quite a common fault on this type of chassis. As for C32, this is to do with the attack timing of the AGC in AM and FM mode.

Sorry I was short with you on the phone but I am very busy and could not repair this for you until some time in late August. Hope this sorts the fault out, let me know how you get on.
